Fostering

What is fostering

Fostering saves lives. Taking a cat into your home to foster not only makes life better for that particular cat, it also opens up a space for another animal to be saved from the threat of euthanasia.

A foster home is a short-term safe haven for a rescued cat. It is a place for a rescued animal to relax, maybe learn a thing or two, and to prepare for a new home.

Animals are eligible for foster for a variety of reasons – because they have been with us for a while, because they don’t thrive in a cage at our local PetSmart Adoption Center, because they have special needs, or because they are too young to stay in a cat adoption center.

Fostering experiences last anywhere from a few days to a few months. Our foster team can help you choose an animal and create an experience that is right for you and your family.

Foster parents provide

  • A safe and stable environment for a cat or kittens
  • Monitoring of health, well-being, and temperament
  • Adoption advocacy (provide updates for the pet’s online bio, take the pet to adoption events, answer emails from potential adopters)
  • Food, bowls, toys and other supplies, such as cat litter and blankets/towels (donated items provided)

We provide the rest!
